On October 25, 2016, the Ministry of Women’s Affairs (MoWA) held a public launch of its recently published Workplace Obstacles: Analysis and Recommendations Report. With technical support provided by the USAID Promote: Women in Government, MoWA’s report aims to inform other ministries about the obstacles women face in working in government, call for ministries to eliminate the obstacles, and develop a plan to monitor the process.
The report also provides recommendations for establishing equitable work environments for women by integrating the perspectives of female and male government employees, students, and representatives of civil society organizations (CSO). The data presented in this report is based on findings from three surveys carried out by government employees, including 113 women and key informants from a cross-section of institutions. The baseline data serves as a starting point for efforts to identify solutions for a rising generation of young women in government.
