Rising Sun Consulting and Business Service (RSCBS) is a private company that provides taxation, internal audit, and financial services. RSCBS learned about the Promote: Women in Economy (WIE) internship program and contacted WIE’s regional office in Mazar-i-Sharif.

“We got to know about WIE’s internship program from one of our partners. At that time, we had vacancies available in our company so we contacted WIE’s regional office in Mazar to know more about it,” said company representative Ahmad Mukhtar. “We respect gender equality because it is linked to sustainable development, and for our company, having female staff can help us maintain relationships with trading companies and governmental agencies that are either entirely managed by women, such as the Department of Women’s Affairs, or programs that have some female managers,” he added.

RSCBS hired four WIE interns to provide support in administration, human resources, finance, and the company’s program departments.

“It’s a win-win situation. Interns benefit by receiving on-the-job training and work experience, and we benefit from their exceptional performance and the opportunities they bring to be able to have clients from companies that are led by women,” Mukhtar said.

WIE works with businesses and individuals to shift the cultural paradigm and ensure that women are part of the economic fabric of Afghanistan. WIE recently expanded services to all 34 provinces across the country, in partnership with the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Martyrs, and Disabled, and has offices in five regional economic zones in Afghanistan: Mazar-i-Sharif, Jalalabad, Herat, Kandahar, and Kabul. WIE supports educated women between the ages of 18 and 30 in finding new or better jobs through career counseling, workplace skills development, and technical skills training based on market demand.
