From June 4th-5th, Promote Women’s Rights Groups and Coalitions (Musharikat) and USAID’s Assistance to Legislative Bodies of Afghanistan program trained thirteen female coalition leaders from nine provinces and eleven Musharikat technical staff on legislative processes and advocacy techniques. The training covered areas of the legislative cycle and addressed points of interventions for Issue-Based Coalitions; presented case studies and position papers; and introduced participants to tools and channels of effective advocacy to reach target stakeholders. As part of the training, the participants also attended an anti-harassment session of the Wolesi Jirga Women Commission and had an opportunity to brief the Wolesi Jirga members on Promote Musharikat’s efforts in creating access to education, curbing violence against women, and advancing economic opportunities women in Afghanistan. The participants also had opportunities to meet and network with the Education Commission and Anti-Corruption Caucus. Promote Musharikat helps create a platform for individuals and organizations to come together to identify priorities in advancing rights and opportunities for all Afghan women.
